Fire rips through home in Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic County

EGG HARBOR TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A massive fire damaged a home Monday afternoon in Atlantic County.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on the 200 block of Laguna Drive in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.

Officials say nobody was home at the time of the fire, but officers were able to safely rescue a family dog from inside the home.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated on the scene.

The fire was brought under control in about an hour.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a heating unit in the attic.

The incident remains under investigation.
