Firefighters rescue man, 2 dogs from a garbage truck in Northampton County

PALMER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Firefighters rescued a man and two dogs from the back of a garbage truck in the Lehigh Valley.

It happened early Thursday morning in a parking lot off Nicholas Street in Palmer Township in Northampton County.

The man and the dogs had been in a dumpster that was picked up by the garbage truck.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The two dogs were not injured.
