Remains found in South Philly basement were not human, officials say

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Remains found in a South Philadelphia basement last week were not human, officials say.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Wharton Street around 5 p.m. on Monday, May 11.

Authorities say the property was being cleaned out when the remains were found.

The bones were sent out for testing.

City officials have now confirmed the remains were not those of a human.
