PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The family of Kelvin Williams is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of a man they describe as the heart of their large North Philadelphia family.
Williams, 57, was killed early Sunday morning around eight when an out-of-control SUV struck his Ford F-150 as he drove two coworkers to a roofing job.
The crash occurred along the inner drive of Roosevelt Boulevard. Police say surveillance video shows the SUV sliding before violently colliding with Williams' truck.
Williams was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers were hospitalized with injuries.
The striking vehicle, believed to be a Jeep Grand Cherokee with heavily tinted windows and a tinted license plate cover, fled the scene.
Police say the SUV sustained noticeable front-end damage but was still drivable.

Williams' wife, Tasha Williams, a Philadelphia police officer, said the couple had known each other since childhood but reconnected in 2014 and married soon after.
"He was dedicated to his family," she said, urging anyone with information to come forward. "Bring justice. He deserves it."

Family and friends gathered in their North Philadelphia neighborhood Sunday to remember Williams, who they say was the glue that held their family together.
"We have a very large family," said his niece, Javona Williams. "And he was the one who kept us together. If it wasn't for him, to be honest, I don't know where we'd be."
Police continue to search for the driver of the SUV. The investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Philadelphia Police Department's Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3180. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or calling 911.
