Investigation underway after car plunges into Wissahickon Creek in East Falls

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An investigation is underway after a car swerved off the road, then plunged into the Wissahickon Creek in East Falls.

Dozens of first responders were on the scene just before 1 a.m. Sunday along the 4900 block of Ridge Avenue.

That's where they say the vehicle smashed through a guard rail, and then dropped into the water below.

Authorities say the driver ran from the scene.
