Judge allows 1 claim to proceed in lawsuit over President's House in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Some of the arguments in a lawsuit over the President's House won't be heard in a Philadelphia courtroom.

That's because a district court judge has dismissed four of those charges, saying her court doesn't have jurisdiction over those claims.

Those claims were made in a lawsuit filed by the city of Philadelphia, accusing the Trump administration of violating federal policies by removing panels that told the stories of nine people who were enslaved by President George Washington.

Last month, a circuit court ruled that the district court in Philadelphia didn't have jurisdiction in the case and that the city does not own the land where the President's House sits.

That has cleared the way for the Trump administration to remove and replace the panels.

The city, though, still does have one count that the district court judge agreed to hear.

That argument accuses the federal government of breaching its cooperative agreement with the city by removing the panels.
