Langhorne family's chalk game sparks neighborhood fun

LANGHORNE, Pa. (WPVI) -- By mid-summer, many parents may feel like every toy has been played with, every movie has been watched, and going outside to entertain the kids costs a minimum of $100.

It's why a video, posted online by a local electrician, is resonating with so many.

"I gotta give my wife props on this. I just came home from work, and she made the most incredible game of hopscotch that you will ever see," said Eric Gases.

Gases is from Langhorne. He took to social media to show off his wife, Kristi's, beautiful sidewalk chalk creation.

It was a summer afternoon; the kids, ages two and five, needed to get their energy out. In comes chalk and creativity, and a free activity that will tire out the children and spark their imagination. This isn't your average hopscotch grid. Each square has a unique challenge.

"Puck the flowers, dodge the lightning, spell your name, follow the ribbon," narrates Gases.

"A few adults actually told us as they were walking by. They either started doing it, or they told us like, 'Wow, if I didn't have my dog, I'd be spinning in this flower too!" said Kristi.

The video now has 150,000 likes and nearly 50,000 shares.

The neighbors have joined in to create their own chain of chalk challenges, building community in their Langhorne neighborhood.
