Man dead following high-speed crash on Vine Street Expressway in Center City

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 27-year-old Florida man is dead following what Philadelphia police are calling a high-speed crash on the Vine Street Expressway in Center City.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. Monday.

According to police, the dark gray Toyota Corolla collided into the rear of a utility truck stopped because of heavy traffic in the center lane.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was shut down for a short time, but has since reopened.

The name of the person killed has not been released.
