Major Regional Rail service delays after SEPTA train derailment in North Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- There are major service disruptions on SEPTA's Regional Rail on Wednesday morning after an overnight train derailment in North Philadelphia.
The Manayunk/Norrristown, Fox Chase and Chestnut Hill East Lines will be suspended until further notice.
The Lansdale/Doylestown, Warminster and West Trenton Lines will only be able to operate to-and-from Fern Rock. Customers can transfer to the B at Fern Rock for travel to-and-from Center City.
The Airport, Media/Wawa, Wilmington/Newark, Paoli/Thorndale, Trenton and Chestnut Hill West Lines will operate to-and-from Suburban Station.
Officials say these lines will not service Jefferson Station, so passengers will have to use Suburban Station for access to Center City or transfer to the L at 15th Street/City Hall.
No injuries were reported among the 47 passengers and three crew members who were on the train when the derailment occured, according to officials.
The train has been removed from the tracks, but delays are still expected as crews work to fix the rails.
This is the second derailment in the Philadelphia region this week after more than a dozen train cars left the tracks after a freight train derailment on Tuesday afternoon in Bensalem, Bucks County.
That crash happened around 2:15 p.m. between Street Road and the Neshaminy Falls train station, and forced evacuation and shelter-in-place orders. Residents have since been allowed to return home.
