PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Delaware man who shot and killed a North Philadelphia security guard has been sentenced to decades in prison.
Wayne Dory-Lis was sentenced to 20 to 40 years behind bars after pleading guilty to third-degree murder, weapons violations and making terroristic threats.
Dory-Lis killed Nassir Day nearly five years ago while Day was working as a security guard inside a social services center in the city's Logan neighborhood.
Authorities said that on Oct. 1, 2021, Dory-Lis entered the Pathways to Housing building armed with homemade pipe guns. Day attempted to stop him but was fatally shot.
Following his death, Day was remembered by colleagues and loved ones as someone who cared deeply about his work and was unafraid to stand up to bullies.
