Mike Schmidt promotes 'Play Sun Safe' initiative

RIDLEY PARK, PA. (WPVI) -- Former Phillies 3rd baseman, Mike Schmidt gave a lesson not in baseball, but sun safety Friday afternoon.

He spoke to athletes at Ridley High School in Delaware County about the importance of wearing sunscreen and protective clothing.

Schmidt also reflected on his personal battle with Melanoma.

He joined Dermatology Partners for the "Play Sun Safe" initiative which also provides a seasonal supply of sunscreen dispensers at ballparks
