The Negro Leagues honored in Center City, Philadelphia event

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An event in Philadelphia focused on preserving the legacy of the Negro Leagues through education, storytelling, and community engagement.

The Action Cam was at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Philadelphia in Center City for the ceremony on Friday.

Phillies legend, Ryan Howard, spoke about the importance of honoring baseball's African American history, and ensuring those stories are preserved for future generations.

Howard also presented a $20,000 check in support of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, which is in Kansas City, Missouri.

Howard says he used to visit the museum every year before training camp, as a pre-season ritual, to pay homage to those who came before him.
