New Jersey bans restaurant reservation scalping

Snagging dinner reservations at some of New Jersey's most popular restaurants could be getting easier.

Governor Mikie Sherrill signed a bill banning restaurant reservation scalping.

It prohibits third parties from listing, promoting or selling reservations to restaurants without their permission.

Sherrill said on Thursday that the practice harms restaurants' relationships with customers, while driving up costs to dine out.

Similar legislation is on the books in Philadelphia. That law took effect, just last month.
