NJ, Del. join lawsuit over federal government efforts to obtain personal data of SNAP recipients

Delaware and New Jersey have joined a list of states suing the federal government over its efforts to obtain personal data of SNAP recipients.

The Department of Agriculture is requesting the Social Security numbers and home addresses of those on SNAP.

The lawsuit, filed by 20 Democratic state attorneys general, says the action violates state and federal privacy laws of those low-income families.
