New Jersey man charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend

HAMILTON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A man has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of his girlfriend in the Mercer County, New Jersey, apartment they shared.

Carlos Pean, 29, was arrested over the weekend by U.S. Marshals.

Authorities say he allegedly killed his girlfriend last Tuesday inside the apartment on the unit block of Bradford Avenue.

Adeline Alfred, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say she was the victim of an apparent physical assault.

The prosecutor's office has filed a motion to detain Pean pending trial.
