New program aims to help Pennsylvanians in need of food assistance

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A new program was unveiled on Friday to help Pennsylvanians who are in need of food assistance.

Shapiro administration officials announced the details at the Community College of Philadelphia's Spring Garden campus.

The program offers employment and training opportunities for SNAP recipients.

The aim is to help people meet new work requirements that were put in place by the Trump administration last year.

Those requirements must be met in order for people to keep their benefits.
