Northeast High School students stage anti-ICE protest

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Students from Northeast High School in Philadelphia participated in an anti-ICE protest Thursday afternoon.

They walked along Cottman Avenue towards Bustleton Avenue, carrying signs and chanting in protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and its practices.

The School District of Philadelphia said it supports students' rights to free speech, but due to district policy it "cannot encourage, organize or approve students leaving academic instruction."

Philadelphia Police Civil Affairs said the walkout was peaceful and there were no incidents.
