Officer, civilian injured after crash in West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Both a Philadelphia police officer and a civilian were hurt when their cars crashed around 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

The police car had significant front-end damage to the passenger side, with its tire knocked off the axle.

Across the street, the civilian's car came to rest on the sidewalk along the 5300 block of Chestnut Street.

Both the officer and the other driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

It's still unclear what led up to the crash, and the details remain under investigation.
