Pedestrian killed after being struck by 2 vehicles in South Jersey

HAMILTON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by two vehicles while crossing the street in South Jersey.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday as 44-year-old Michael Alvarez of Egg Harbor Township was crossing Route 40 at Cantillon Boulevard in Hamilton Township, Atlantic County.

Police say Alvarez was struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling westbound. Moments later, another vehicle, traveling in the eastbound lanes, also hit him.

Alvarez died from his injuries.

Both drivers remained at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.
