PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Pennsylvania SPCA is hosting a free spay/neuter event for Philadelphia pets.

The event, which will be held on June 7 at PSPCA headquarters at 350 East Erie Avenue, is to celebrate the organization's 159th birthday.

Spots are limited, so pet owners are encouraged to sign up early to lock in their appointment.

"Nearly 160 years ago, the Pennsylvania SPCA made a promise to the animals of Philadelphia, and we've been keeping it ever since," PSPCA said in a social media post.

This comes after the nonprofit also posted on social media that its Philadelphia shelter is full. They say they have dogs of every breed, size, and personality.

"We say if all the time - a dog for everyone," according to the post. "We have so many amazing dogs waiting for their homes."
