ABSECON, New Jersey (WPVI) -- For over 20 years, kids and adults with disabilities have stepped up to the plate at the South Jersey Field of Dreams.
The goal is to provide an inclusive space to make friends and run the bases.
"We serve roughly about 300 kids from 13 towns and seven counties, all so they can play baseball," said Board Member, Jacob Hackett.
Hackett lives with cerebral palsy, and the program was brought to the area in-part by his grandparents in 2003.
"It means a great deal... And it always will. You want to be an inclusive environment. You want to be a networking environment, and you want to give kids a chance to be kids. I feel if we've done all that, then we've done our job at the end of the day," said Hackett.
Those with disabilities play in their league, with help from volunteers.
"They realized that there was a lot they could do. They could run. They could play ball. They could be a part of a team. They could have people cheer for them. That's what this is all about. It gives them a chance to be a complete human being and not be somebody that has to sit on the sidelines," said Board Member, John Glassey.
