Person found dead in the Pennypack Creek in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An investigation is underway after a person was found dead in the Pennypack Creek on Tuesday afternoon, Philadelphia police say.

Officers were called for a report of a suspicious death near the 3100 block of Rhawn Street in the Holmesburg section of the city around 4:41 p.m.

That's where they found the body of an adult in the creek. It's not yet known if the body is that of a man or a woman.

The investigation into the cause and manner of death is currently active and ongoing, investigators said.

Detectives are working with the Medical Examiner's Office to identify the body and determine the circumstances of that person's death.
