Person hospitalized following house fire in Newport, Del.

NEWPORT, Del. (WPVI) -- One person was hospitalized after being rescued from a home that went up in flames in New Castle County.

It happened on the 200 block of West Ayre Street in Newport, Delaware, just after 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming through the roof of the house.

One person was removed from the house and transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
