
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia barber is getting national recognition for his efforts to provide free haircuts to people in need.
Joshua Santiago, who founded the non-profit Empowering Cuts, was featured on Good Morning America on Wednesday.

The non-profit offers free cuts and resources to people experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia and beyond.
Santiago's videos have reached millions of views on social media.

On GMA, he explained how his mission has helped him better understand his mother's battle with addiction, adding even more purpose to this powerful movement.
"She's been sober for one year. She's an intern on campus now. This is the first time that she's had a job, so after nearly 40 years of addiction, she's been sober for one full year," he said.
Power company Jackery surprised Josh with a free solar generator and a $10,000 donation to help him continue his work.
