Philadelphia nonprofit honors memory of Kada Scott during 'Great Give Back' event

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia nonprofit honored the memory of Kada Scott this weekend.

The 23-year-old was murdered last year.

The organization "She is U", which supports survivors of domestic violence, highlighted Kada's story during its "Great Give Back" event in Center City.

During the ceremony, Kada's sister, Kinsey, received a scholarship as she prepares to go off to college.

"We are supporting families and individuals impacted by intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sex abuse and sexual assault," says Shakina Rush, Founder & Executive Director of "She is U". "We want to support those who feel like they don't have a voice."

"She is U" also provides support services, including mental health, housing and employment and educational resources.
