Philadelphia's Parks and Recreation Dept. looking to hire lifeguards for city pools this summer

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The warmer weather is making it feel like summer, and here is another sign the season is almost here.

Philadelphia's Parks and Recreation department is hiring lifeguards for the city's pools.

The recruitment video spoofs Sarah McLachlan's SPCA ads and featires her song "Angel."

The city says it pays to get your application in early.

Parks and Rec says lifeguards who apply by April 15 will be eligible for a $1,000 bonus at the end of the season.

If you apply by May 15, you can claim a $500 bonus.

Lifeguards must be at least 16 years old.

The city is hoping to once again have enough guards to open all 59 pools.
