Phillies hold Red October bus tour ahead of playoffs

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Rally for Red October Bus Tour made its rounds on Thursday to give fans the opportunity to celebrate before the Phillies' first playoff game on Saturday.

The double-decker bus made stops in Center City and South Jersey.

The team store was busy with people trying to snatch up some new gear before the postseason starts. And if your last name is Kemp, you know just what to get.

"I root for Otto every time he's in there. Can't wait to see him swing and hit a home run the last couple of games," said Brian Kemp of Port St. Lucie.

Fans feel good about what they saw at the intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday.

In true Philadelphia fashion, they didn't hold back on a bit of trash talk before they knew the Phils would be facing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS.

"Everybody in baseball says the Dodgers can't be beat. Come to Citizens Bank Park and find out," said fan Mark Coyle.

Fans who were at the Phillies scrimmage say they're confident the team is ready to take on the Dodgers, a team the Phillies have already beaten this year.

The Rally for Red October Bus Tour will make its rounds on Thursday to give fans the opportunity to celebrate.

"I just want to kick their butts this time," said fan Kristy Calderone.

The Phils finished the regular season as National League East champions and earned the week off, but decided to scrimmage against themselves just to stay fresh. It was a treat for the 31,000 fans in attendance.

The average major league team sees around 30,000 fans just for regular games. Philadelphia surpassed that total just for a scrimmage.

"I'm not surprised. We're the Phillies. Philly fans are the best. We care about everything and anything the Phillies do, we'll show up for everything they do," said fan Charles Morgan.

This is the fourth year in a row the Phillies have made it to the postseason. Saturday's game, with Christopher Sanchez going up against Shohei Ohtani, could set a record.

According to TickPick, the get-in price is around $300 -- the third most expensive on record. Compare that to the Brewers game one, where it's around $110.

But if the Phillies got to a Game 5 with the Dodgers, the ticket site expects it to be the most expensive division series ticket ever. Some say it will be worth it.

"People don't care, they'll spend the money, they just want a winning team. I think they'll get their money's worth," said Pete Karaso of Rockledge.

Right now, the cheapest ticket is a possible Game 4 in Los Angeles, which runs around $120.
