PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A crash on the Roosevelt Boulevard injured both a Philadelphia police officer and another driver.

It happened along the Boulevard, at Pratt Street, in the city's Oxford Circle section at 11:30p.m. on Thursday.

Officers said the cruiser collided with the civilian vehicle, sending it up onto the grassy median.

The police vehicle slammed into a sign along the highway that says, "Maintain Safe Following Distance."

One officer was transported by medics to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment. The officer was subsequently treated for their injuries and released.

The adult driver in the civilian vehicle was hospitalized for injuries to his left hip.

The police crash investigation unit is working to determine the cause.
