PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- The Council of Indian Organizations in Greater Philadelphia held a Festival of Colors today.

They hosted dozens at the Philadelphia Zoo to celebrate "Holi."

"This is what Philadelphia Zoo is about, transformational memories being made. You see families, you see people of all ages, all backgrounds... When you welcome Spring, you associate that with all sorts of different colors. And that comes to life today," said Neil Batiancila, Chief Development Officer of the Philadelphia Zoo.

To go along with the traditions of Holi, colors flew in the air throughout the day.

"There are many non-Indian friends who have come here with their children, and it's a very binding thing to make new friends, to get to know a different culture, to try to understand a different people. So when I see...friends coming and celebrating Holi, I... feel very, very nice," said Consul General of India, New York, Binaya Pradhan.
