Phillies pace pitcher Luzardo on IL with shoulder inflammation

The Philadelphia Philliesplaced starting pitcherJesús Luzardo on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation, the team announced on Tuesday.

Luzardo won't be eligible to return until the last game of the regular season.

The All-Star hurler was scratched from Saturday's road game against the Atlanta Braveswith stiffness in his left shoulder. He underwent an MRI that showed no serious issues.

Luzardo told reporters on Tuesday he believes he will be ready for the postseason.

"I can't say 100 percent I'm going to start, but that's the goal," Luzardo said. "I feel confident I can make that happen."

Luzardo, 28, is having a huge season, posting a 14-5 record with a 2.87 ERA. In his most recent outing, Sept. 7 against the Braves, he struck out 12 in the first shutout of his career.

To fill Luzardo's roster spot, the Phillies recalled right-hander Grant Holman from Triple-A.
