Philly youth become athletic 'Eyekonz' on and off the field
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- The mission of Jazmine A. Smith is simple: to make sure all young athletes know that they are "Eyekonz."
With her dedicated team, they provide programming in Philadelphia, and have expanded to Atlantic City and Baltimore.
Through athletic training and mentorship, kids play with a purpose, and hope to achieve collegiate scholarships.
"I started playing lacrosse and field hockey in Radnor School District, and it was important for me to be able to give the same opportunities and access points that were provided to me through these nontraditional sports. We have had 112 girls go off to college on scholarships, playing lacrosse and field hockey. And our hope is that that number continues to grow," said Jazmine A. Smith.
"As they start to grow and develop, they realize that they have the power to change the capacity of what this world is...Making sure they understand that their voice is valued in this world and they need to just be able to share that," she continued.
