Pork roll eating contest pairs with waterfront fun at RiverFest in Trenton

TRENTON, New Jersey (WPVI) -- The combination of a pork roll eating contest and waterfront activities made for a beautiful day at RiverFest in Trenton.

The annual event is the combination of two pre-existing events known as RiverFest and Trenton River Days respectively.

It's a partnership between Trenton Thunder, Mercer County, and The Watershed Institute.

Competitive eater James Webb, originally from Sydney, Australia, emerged victorious in the pork roll eating contest. With a score of 41 and a quarter pork roll sandwiches, he barely edged out Nick Wehry, who ate 41 himself.

While the one-day event has concluded, organizers hope it inspires families to come back to the waterfront for various activities year-round, such as riding pontoon boats and visiting a Trenton Thunder game.
