Rita's celebrating first day of spring with free Italian ice, new mystery Peeps flavor

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It's a Philadelphia-area tradition. Rita's is giving away free water ice to celebrate the first day of spring!

On Friday, customers can welcome the return of warmer weather with a free 6 oz. cup at locations across the region.

You can choose from signature flavors like lemon, cherry, and mango, or try Rita's new flavor, Mystery Peeps Italian Ice.

It's inspired by another Pennsylvania company, Bethlehem-based JustBorn, which makes those iconic marshmallow Peeps treats.

Rita's is allowing customers to guess what the Mystery Peeps flavor is, with a chance to win prizes, including free water ice for a year.
