PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Could you eat the same breakfast every morning?

Or perhaps salmon and rice for dinner every night?

It turns out there's a name for that: food monotony.

And some experts say it may offer health benefits.

Many people embrace repetitive meals because they know what they like, save time and eliminate the daily decision of what to eat.

In fact, a recent study by researchers at Drexel University found that eating the same meals regularly may support weight loss because people are less likely to overeat.

But experts say there's a catch.

If your go-to meals are balanced and include lean proteins, healthy fats, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, eating them regularly may not pose a problem.

However, if those meals rely heavily on processed foods or lack nutritional variety, experts say you could miss out on important nutrients over time.

The takeaway: Your meals don't have to be completely different every day, but your body benefits when the ingredients on your plate aren't always the same.

So, are you Team Routine or Team Variety?
