SOMERDALE, N.J. (WPVI) -- Just as Accuweather forecast, downpours led to flash flooding in Somerdale, New Jersey.
One resident managed to capture a moment in the middle of the flooding that he said felt like it was pulled straight out of a romantic comedy, a meet-cute, if you will.
"It just came out of nowhere," said Andrew Gershman, of Somerdale, NJ.
Cell phone video captured intense flooding along the 400 block of North Warwick Road.
"It was pouring for like twenty minutes straight. Just an absolute downpour," said Gershman, who lives in the area and said he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"I mean it was crazy, it was the worst flooding we've seen here at the end of the street," he said.
However, in the middle of all the chaos, Gershman caught a lighthearted moment, where a woman had to be rescued from her flooded car.
"I thought it was funny, they kind of rescued the other person coming out of the car and she started laughing. So I realized she was safe, and at that point it was like a romantic comedy kind of moment," he said, adding, "I thought it was cute."
Residents said the storms came and went so fast that an hour later, it looked like nothing ever happened.
"You just got debris on the sides, that's about it," said Alani Hernandez, of Somerdale, NJ
Hernandez said he's grateful the rain finally let up. Now, the neighborhood is filled with the sound of drains slowly swallowing what's left.
"We're lucky it didn't go into the house if it kept on raining, it would've," said Hernandez.
The storm also left its mark in Chester, Pennsylvania. Flash flooding turned Tilghman Street and West 2nd Street into rivers.
A driver found himself stuck next to his car as police arrived to help.
Over at 9th Street and Meadow Lane, another vehicle was impacted, and along Hartwick, flooding stretched for several blocks.
Residents in Somerdale said they've never seen the rain fall that hard, that fast. Gershman said he's thankful to live in a neighborhood where people lend a helping hand even when the streets turn to streams.
