Snow emergency lifted in Philadelphia

Residents dig out as Philly warns of overnight ice risks

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Snow Emergency for the City of Philadelphia was lifted at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

"City officials are continuing to treat and plow roadways and streets across Philadelphia, but the recovery operations have reached a point where the Snow Emergency will be lifted," officials said in a statement.

Until Tuesday morning, residents were told to avoid parking on snow emergency routes.

Remote Learning for Philly Schools

Students in the School District of Philadelphia will learn virtually on Tuesday.

All after-school activities, including all athletic programs and professional development sessions scheduled for Tuesday, are canceled.

City Offices Open

All City of Philadelphia administrative office buildings and Courts will be open on Tuesday.

Snow Cleanup

More than 1,000 personnel and over 800 trucks and pieces of equipment are mobilized across Philadelphia.

Residents can track plow activity and roadway treatment in real time through the City's PHLPlow interactive map.

Sanitation Schedule Changes

Trash pickup will be suspended on Monday and Tuesday, and then delayed by two days throughout the week. Rear driveway trash collections are suspended.

Second trash collection is suspended in areas of the city that typically receive it during the week. There will be one collection only throughout the week.

Residents who can't hold their trash can drop it off at one of the city's six sanitation convenience centers, open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. A list of sites is available at Phila.gov/Sanitation.

SEPTA:

SEPTA has announced the following changes on Monday.

-Metro service is operating with delays or modifications.

-Bus and Regional Rail service are in the process of being restored line by line.

-The Center City Trolley Tunnel has reopened. The D and M lines are running modified service, and Route G remains suspended.

-L, B, and T service is operating with delays.

Customers are urged to check for service updates on the Alerts section of SEPTA's website at septa.org/alerts.

PHL International Airport:
Arriving and departing flights resumed at 2:20 p.m. on Monday.

Travelers and those picking up travelers are encouraged to check their flight status before leaving for the airport, as delays and cancellations may still occur. Check with your airline, get updates at 1-800-PHL-GATE (745-4283), or check the PHL International Airport website-phl.org.
