Suspect sought for 2024 mass shooting in Southwest Philadelphia surrenders

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The suspect who was being sought for a mass shooting in Southwest Philadelphia on July 4, 2024, has turned himself in.

Naseem Sills, 19, surrendered Friday without incident, police said.

He is expected to be charged with the murder of 19-year-old Maurice Quain, who was one of nine people shot.

The other eight victims survived.

The victims, including three juveniles and six adults, were shot at a holiday "pop-up event" near the intersection of 60th Street and Kingsessing Ave. around 11:30 p.m. that night.

The crime scene spanned over two blocks.

Officials said they believe a car pulled up and someone inside began firing at the crowd.
