Suspect targeted men because of sexual orientation in series of Hunting Park shootings, DA says

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Authorities have released new information about a suspect wanted in connection with a series of targeted shootings in Philadelphia.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said Wednesday it appears that 21-year-old Jahylin Melchur targeted three men because of their sexual orientation.

Authorities said Melchur is accused of shooting and killing two men in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia in June.

Officials also said a third victim survived a shooting in May.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Melchur's whereabouts to contact police.

The investigation remains ongoing.
