New ECHL hockey team announced in Trenton, NJ

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Trenton is getting back into professional hockey.

The official announcement happened Tuesday morning at Trenton's CURE Insurance Arena.

The new team will be part of the ECHL, a minor professional league.

Its inaugural season will be next year, with games beginning in October of 2026.

A team name has not been selected yet.

Trenton's last professional hockey team, the Titans, played their final game in Trenton back in 2013.
