Light in the sky surprised people across Philadelphia region on Tuesday night. Here's what it was

Vulcan rocket spotted by skywatchers across the Philadelphia region

PHILADELPHIA -- People who had their eyes to the sky for the Perseid meteor shower on Tuesday night had an extra sight to see.

Calls and messages started coming into Action News after a bright light was visible in the sky around 10:30 p.m.

No, it wasn't a super-sized meteor or a UFO.

The light people were seeing was from the Vulcan rocket launched by the United Launch Alliance.

It took off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, just before 9 p.m.

According to Space.com the rocket was carrying an experimental navigation satellite on behalf of the U.S. military.
