Unvaccinated Kent County man becomes 1st Delaware measles case in more than a decade

KENT COUNTY, Del. (WPVI) -- Health officials in Delaware have confirmed the state's first case of measles in more than a decade.

An unvaccinated Kent County man tested positive on Monday.

Health officials are now trying to identify and notify those who may have been exposed to the virus.

Measles is highly contagious that begins with a fever, cough, running nose and pink eye before a rash appears on the face and body.

The MMR vaccine has been shown in tests to be 97% effective in preventing measles.
