Washington Township Police serve the community on a snow day

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, New Jersey (WPVI) -- During this weekend's snowfall, first responders in Washington Township stepped up to help the community with weather-related events.

They prepared during the week to make sure they had enough staff and plans in place for the heavy snowfall.

"With a snowstorm, we've had a lot of car accidents, a lot of cars stuck in snow, a lot of trees down. The snow is heavy, so it's causing branches to fall on electrical wires," said Chief Patrick Gurcsik of the Washington Township Police Department.

"When it comes to it, we're actually a small community, and everyone here knows each other. And it's nice to work in a community like this. We're appreciated by our residents and we're lucky to have that here in town," he continued.
