CAMDEN, New Jersey & PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Visitors brought a century of memories with them as they walked across the Ben Franklin Bridge for its 100th birthday.
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) closed the bridge to vehicle traffic and invited pedestrians for a morning of festivities.
Mayors Cherelle Parker and Victor Carstarphen provided passionate remarks on the New Jersey side.
On the Pennsylvania side, The Polish Heritage Society of Philadelphia laid a wreath in memory of the bridge's chief engineer, Ralph Modjeski.
Families could also experience food trucks, local vendors, and discover artifacts and photos of the bridge's history.
