West Philly Bizarre brings urban flea market flair to Clark Park

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Now through November on most Saturdays each month, the West Philly Bizarre fills the space in Clark Park across the street from The Food Trust Farmer's Market -- with vendors selling anything and everything, hence the bazaar-like atmosphere.

The bizarre does not sell food - shoppers can cross the street for that - but the new and used items being sold run the gamut from clothes and home goods to artisan items and vinyl records.

The bizarre has been around in one form or another for about twenty years, but it's current status as a non-profit is going on two years. Market Director Cat Hofmann says economic justice is the core mission, to support the the legacy vendors, many of whom are from marginalized and underserved communities. They are also greatly helped by donations, and have an online shop where proceeds fully go to support the market.

The bizarre hours are Saturdays 10am to 3pm, and visitors should check weekly to make sure the market is scheduled.
