Whale tips boat, knocking woman into Barnegat Bay

It was a rare interaction for boaters in the Barnegat Bay off the coast of Ocean County on Sunday.

Kim Mancini of Lacey Township recorded video as a distressed Minke whale tipped a boat, knocking a woman into the water.

Mancini says that something was visibly wrong with the huge mammal.

"It was really in distress. That's when it would go under boats, it was a crazy experience," says Mancini.

Mancini says they witnessed the whale trying desperately to get to deeper water but to no avail.

Sadly, the whale has since died.

The woman who was tossed from the boat was not injured.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center says the animal will be towed to a state park on Monday morning for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.
