What is a Fastnacht?
Watch as we explain the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch treats known as Fastnachts.

In honor of Mardis Gras, bakers fire up their fryers to roll out traditional Pennsylvania Dutch treats known as Fastnachts.

The sweet treats are similar to donuts, made of lard, sugar, flour and butter.

They are traditionally eaten the day before Lent begins.
