Police in Princeton say a man tried to lure a young boy into his vehicle as he walked home from school.

PRINCETON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police in Princeton, New Jersey say a man tried to lure a young boy into his vehicle as he walked home from school.

It happened Tuesday afternoon on Hamilton Avenue near Chestnut Street.

Police say the man parked a gray mini-van or SUV on the curb and left the engine running.

The man stood on the sidewalk, approached the 11-year-old victim and motioned him to come toward him.

The man opened the door and that's when the boy ran off.

Police were called to the area, but the suspect got away.
