VIDEO: Bordentown woman arrested on prostitution charges
Detectives say they caught a Burlington County woman posing as a prostitute to steal the money of potential clients.

Police in Bordentown Township, New Jersey say a woman arrested on prostitution charges was apparently scamming would-be clients.

22-year-old Ashley Briddle was arrested Monday on prostitution and theft charges.

Detectives say they began investigating last week when a Brighton Court resident reported a strange man kicking in his front door.

Police interviewed other residents in the area and received similar reports of men knocking on doors in the Clifton Mill neighborhood.

The residents said the men appeared to be searching for a woman who was possibly involved in prostitution.

Detectives located an online classified ad for prostitution-related services in the Bordentown area.

Undercover officers say they made contact with Briddle when they responded to the ad.

Through their investigation, they say they determined that Briddle would offer sexual favors in exchange for cash.

They say she required payment in advance, and instructed prospective clients to meet her at fake addresses for sexual activity, but she would never show up.

Instead, police say, Briddle gave the prospective customers addresses on Brighton Court and Pelham Lane.

They suspect those men knocked on the doors of innocent people.

"Ashley Briddle's reckless behavior could have easily resulted in a resident of Clifton Mill being assaulted or worse. We extend our sincere thanks to the residents of this neighborhood who informed officers of their suspicions of Briddle and helped resolve this matter in a timely fashion," said Township Police Chief Frank Nucera Jr.

She was turned over to Palmyra Police for an active warrant.
