NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Temple University Police are investigating three posters found in different locations around campus Wednesday night that used inflammatory language aimed at African Americans.
They were posted at multiple locations, including the outside of a residence hall.
Freshmen Ahmad Nixon and John Haldeman discovered one of the fliers on a column of a freshman dorm.
"We came, I came up I saw it," said Nixon. "It was disgusting."
The posters included foul language as well as racist slurs.
The politically charged flyers called African American students "stupid," used the n-word and then read: "Bernie would have won if it wasn't for you, and this is all your fault."
The Bernie presumably Sanders. The issue: African Americans overwhelming voted for opponent Hilary Clinton in the 2016 primaries.
The head of Temple's student NAACP chapter says it's no secret that college students in general supported Bernie Sanders. It's not the political insults she worried about, but the direct, derogatory attack on black students.
"Its never been to this level," said Breea Gillette, President Progressive NAACP. "Using the N word."
The university issued a statement calling this disgusting and hateful and saying "it has no place on our campus."
The investigation into who is behind this is ongoing.
