NASA plans to send first woman to the moon
NASA plans to send first woman to the moon. Matt O'Donnell reports during Action News Mornings on May 14, 2019.

U.S. space agency NASA will get an additional $1.6 billion in its $21 billion budget if President Donald Trump has his way.

NASA says it wants to use that money to fund the new Artemis program which plans to land an American woman and another American man on the moon by 2024.

It also plans to establish a sustained presence on the moon by 2028.

The budget must be approved by congress.

Humans haven't walked on the moon since the 1970s.
